SMETERGELL (SMETHERGELL), William (18de eeuw) Engelsman - Pianist, organist, componist en theoreticus. Hij was organist aan verscheidene kerken in Londen. Van hem is een theoretisch traktaat bekend: Rules for the Thorough Bass (ca. 1795), evenals een aantal composities voor klavecimbel en voor viool.
