BALFE: Pittore e Duca 21 November. Trieste Text by F. M. Piave. Prologue and 3 acts. Revived London, H.M.’s 28 January 1882 (in English, as Moro, the Painter of Antwerp, translated by W. A. Barrett ). The correct date of the first production will be found in The Musical World, 1854, no.49, p.809. Both the composer himself (see the facsimile list in C. L. Kenney’s Memoir of M. W. Balfe) and the English translator (see W. A. Barrett , Balfe: His Life and Work, p.219) give the wrong date of 1856.
