BATSON BERGEN, FLORA. Concert singer (16 April 1864 in Washington, D.C.; 1 December 1906 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). She was taken to Providence, Rhode Island, at the age of three and began singing in local church choirs as a child. During the early 1880s she began to appear in local concerts in Providence and in Boston, Massachusetts.
