JONES, ROBERT ELLIOTT (JONAH). Jazz trumpeter (31 December 1908 in Louisville, Kentucky). He began study of the alto horn when he was eleven and changed to trumpet two years later. As a member of the local Booker T. Washington Community Center Band, he obtained both his lessons and instruments free of charge.
