OLATUNJI, MICHAEL BABATUNDE. Folk music drummer (c1920s in Ajido-Badagry, Nigeria). He obtained his musical education at the Baptist Academy in Lagos, Nigeria, and at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia (B.A., 1954). During his school years he formed a cultural dance group that toured widely in Nigeria. His early career development was influenced by the drummer Oyewe and the singer Denge.
