PERRYMAN, RUFUS (SPECKLED RED). Blues pianist (23 October 1892 in Monroe, Louisiana; 2 January 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri). His family moved to Hampton, Georgia, when he was a child, then later to Atlanta, Georgia, and finally to Detroit, Michigan. His piano style was influenced by Paul Seminole, whom he heard playing in local nightclubs of Detroit.
