BARRETT, John

> VIOLIN-MAKER

BARRETT (John). English violin-maker, flourished about beginning of 18th century. His workshop was the Harp and Crown in Piccadily, London. His violins, which are very rare, are modelled on those of Jacob Stainer, but are only of average merit. Barrett may be regarded as a second-rate maker of the so-called London school.
