Athenaeus, ein griechischer Schriftsteller, geb. zu Naucratis in Aegypten gegen 160 n. Chr., lebte noch um 228 (Fétis). Er schrieb : A.'i Deipnosophistarum sive coenae sapientium libri XV. Es giebt mehrere Ausg. Die Bibl. des C. P., Brüssel 646, br. Mus. Ms. 148, nach Lugduni 1657, besitzen eine lateinische Uebersetzung von „Isaacus Casaubonus recensuit, et ex antiquis membranis supplevit auxitque‟ .. (Heidelbg.) apud. Hieron. Commelinum 1597. fol.
