Katsman [Kátsmuhn], Klara Abramovna (5–18/31–1916, Surazh, Vitebsk distr.). Grad. 1941 from the L. Cons., where she studied comp. with Shostakovich and M. Yudin . Settled in the Urals in 1943 and has been infl. by the music of that region. Her favorite musical genre is opera.
