Magomayev [Muhgamáyiff] (Mahomayev), (Abdul) Muslim Magometovich (9–6/18–1885, Grozny; 7–28–1937, Nalchik). Azerbaijani cond. and comp. Grad. 1904 from the teachers' seminary in Gori, where he later taught. From 1911 was involved in organizing the music theater in Baku. Also cond. the theater company of U. Gadzhibekov and the orch. of the Azerbaijani Theater of Opera and Ballet. With U. Gadzhibekov publ. the first collection of Azerbaijani folk songs. Also was one of the first comp. from this…
