Orfeyev [Arfyéyiff], Serafim Dmitriyevich (5–2/15–1904, Krutchenskaya Baigora [now Lipetsk distr.]; 7–20–1974, Odessa). Theorist and comp. Grad. 1932 from the Odessa Mus.-Dramatic Institute, where he studied with P. Molchanov. Joined the faculty of the Odessa Cons. in 1934; also cond. research on music theory and the history of Ukrainian music. His students incl. Drago, Grzhibovsky, and Malyukova.
