Smirnov [Smeernóff], Dmitry (11–2–1948, Minsk). Husband of Firsova. Grad. 1972 from the M. Cons., where he studied comp. with Sidel'nikov and Denisov, who considered Smirnov one of the most talented comp. of his generation. Was infl. by Lutoslawski and Messiaen.
