Tikhomirov [Teekhzméeruhff], Georgy Vladimirovich (12–14/27–1913, M.; 2–13–1967, same). Following study with A. N. Aleksandrov and Gnesin at the M. Cons. (1933–36), was a pupil of Gnesin and Shostakovich at the L. Cons. Grad. in 1938 and completed post-grad. work in 1941. Taught at the Gnesin Institute from 1948–56, then became an editor of Sovetskiy Kompozitor. Comp. primarily works for folk instruments.
