Tobias, Rudolf (5–29–1873, Kaina; 10–29–1918, Berlin). Estonian pianist and comp. Grad. 1897 from the P. Cons., where he studied organ with Gomilius (Homilius) and comp. with N. Rimsky-Korsakov . Held organ positions in P. (1898–1904) and Tartu (1905–08) and concertized as a cond., pianist, and organist. Also worked as a music critic and from 1912 taught at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.
