FIEDLER, ARTHUR

Arthur Fiedler was born in Boston and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, Berlin. In 1915, he was appointed violinist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. From 1929 onward, he served as conductor of the BOSTON POPS ORCHESTRA, a position he held for over thirty years. Fiedler sold around five million albums and ten million singles discs. One of his most famous recordings was the tango Jalousie (Jealousy), composed by Jacob Gade and released by Victor in 1938.
