Riley, John Arthur. Altoona, Pennsylvania, 17 September 1920 Riley studied with Wayne Barlow and Bernard Rogers at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York (1948–51), with Quincy Porter at Yale University (M.Mus, 1955), and at the Paris Conservatory with Arthur Honegger (1952–53). He was also a cellist in the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra (1947–49), Rochester Philharmonic (1949–51), the Hartford Symphony (1953–56), and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (1953–62).
