Thousand Miles Away, A
Thousand Miles Away, A pastoral ballad. Attributed to Queensland station owner Charles Augustus Flower, c. 1879, and sung to the air »Ten Thousand Miles Away« (now familiar from George Dreyfus's adaptation in the Theme from Rush), it tells of sending beef to Brisbane from the rugged far west of Queensland. Found in the Hurd Collection (1894–97), and published by A. B. Paterson in Old Bush Songs (1905), another version was collected by A. L. Lloyd (1957).
