Franklin, Reverend C. L. Clarence LeVaughn Franklin (January 15, 1922; July 27, 1984) Clarence LeVaughn Franklin was born in rural Sunflower County, Mississippi, to sharecroppers. The family moved to Cleveland, Mississippi, where he was educated. Franklin was ordained and began preaching at the age of sixteen.
