Heifetz's first concerts in Odessa during 1911 were so enthusiastically received that riots broke out at the box office. European engagements followed, and in 1913, he made his first appearance with an orchestra, playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
