DTS (Digital Theater Systems)
DTS (Digital Theater Systems) A movie theater and home-theater audio format that is similar in concept to, but technically different from, Dolby Digital (DD). Like DD, it involves up to 5.1 channels of data-reduced audio coding, but does so at a higher data rate than the Dolby version. Whether this results in superior sound is the subject of debate in the audio community. The first movie to make use of a DTS soundtrack was Jurassic Park, in 1993.
