Rosenthal, Richard S.
Rosenthal, Richard S. An early promoter of language instruction by phonograph; he spoke on the subject at the 1893 convention of the National Phonograph Assoc. Rosenthal’s organization, the International College of Languages, sent out sets of prerecorded cylinders to students, with blanks for return of their recitations. Others followed this example—the “Languagephone Method”—in the cylinder era, but in the advanced technological age that followed instruction, ironically, became unilateral.
