Solex (Label)

Solex (Label) A U.K. record introduced by British Homophone Co. in September 1930. It was a fine grooved disc, eight inches in diameter, said to play as long as a normal 10-inch disc. Matrices were contracted to Selfridge’s, who sold them under the label name Silvertone. The eight-inch discs ceased after April 1931. A 10-inch record was introduced in January 1935, but it was only sold for four months. After 1935 there were no further issues. [Andrews 1986/4.]
