Imperial Founded in Los Angeles in 1946 by ex-NBC employee Lewis R. Chudd, the Imperial label made steady progress through its first years, mainly recording local West Coast acts—such as Lloyd Glenn , Poison Gardner , Jake Porter, and Charlie “Boogie Woogie” Davis—until the company began expanding in the late 1940s.
