A sa guitare (FR) To His Guitar. Poulenc's setting (1935) for voice and harp (or piano) of part of the 15th ode from the Second Livre des Odes (Second Book of Odes, 1550) by Ronsard. The original archaic spelling of the title is »A sa guiterre.« Poulenc writes: »I at once marveled at the sublime series »Je déçois, je romps, j'enchante« [I deceive, I break off, I enchant]« and » I try here to avoid the ›color of the period.‹ I thought rather of Plessis-lez-Tours [Poulenc means Cosme-lez-Tours…
