Air vif
Air vif (FR) Fast (or Lively) Air. Poulenc's setting (1927 / 28, Airs chantés #4) for voice and piano of the first poem from Book V of Stances (Stanzas, 1899 / 1901) by Moréas. Poulenc repeats the word »Hélas!« (Alas!) three additional times for a total of four, and then repeats the first stanza completely (with extra »Hélas!«) at the end. Poulenc writes: »This song must [also] be sung very rapidly, in an explosion of joy.« The song is dedicated to Jane Bathori.
