La belle jeunesse (FR) Beautiful Youth. Poulenc's setting (1925/26, Chansons gaillardes #7) for voice and piano of an anonymous 17th century text. The poem's original title is »Avis à la belle jeunesse [Vaudeville]« (Opinion [Given] to Beautiful Youth – Vaudeville). Poulenc writes: »[the song] must be done very fast. The accompaniment with the precision of a piano etude.«
