Le départ

Le départ (FR) The Departure. Poulenc's setting (1934, Huit chansons polonaises #2) for voice and piano of a translation of »Odjazd,« a Polish patriotic text and melody. The words are by Stefan Witwicki (1802 – 1847), the melody a folk tune. The song is dedicated to Misia Sert. Chopin set the same text in 1830, as the song »Wojak« (The Warrior, Op. 74, #10).
