Le dernier mazour

Le dernier mazour (FR) The Last Mazurka. Poulenc's setting (1934, Huit chansons polonaises #4) for voice and piano of a translation of »Ostatni Mazour,« a Polish patriotic text and melody. The melody originates from the departure of troops in 1831 under the direction of General Chlopicki (1771 – 1854). It enjoyed revival in World War I. The song is dedicated to Marya Freund.
