She was a member of the artist circle »The Peacocks« gathered around the Belgian painter Théo van Rysselberghe (1862 – 1926). She was the friend, muse, and mentor of American poet May Sarton (1912 – 1995), who was born in Belgium, but moved to the USA when she was three.
