Eventail

Eventail (FR) Fan. Debussy's setting (1913, Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé #3) for voice and piano of a poem titled Autre Eventail de Mlle. Mallarmé (Another Fan of Miss Mallarmé, 1884) by Stephane Mallarmé. Mallarmé wrote éventail poems to adorn the coverings between the ribs of fans belonging to his lady friends, in this case his 19-year-old daughter, Geneviève.
