Il vole

Il vole (FR) He Flies (and/or: He Steals). Pou-lenc's setting (1939, Fiançailles pour rire #3) for voice and piano of the second poem by Vilmorin from Fiançailles pour rire (Humorous Engagements, 1939). Poulenc writes: »One of my hardest songs. It seems to me impossible to perform without seriously hard work and numerous rehearsals. Perhaps, due to this, I will discourage too many mediocre renditions.« The song is dedicated to Suzanne Peignot.
