Parisiana

Parisiana Poulenc's settings (1954) of two poems by Jacob from Le Laboratoire central (The Main Laboratory, 1921). At one time, Poulenc considered including »Jouer du bugle« in his secular cantata »Le Bal Masqué« (The Masked Ball, 1932), but he did not, because it would have duplicated too closely the tone of »La Dame aveugle« (The Blind Lady), already in the cantata. The individual song titles are: »Jouer du bugle« and »Vous n'écrivez plus?.«
