Soir (FR) Evening. Fauré's setting (1894, Op. 83, #2) for voice and piano of the poem »Elegie« by Samain from Au Jardin de l'Infante (In the Garden of the Infanta, 1893). The poem is dedicated to Gabriel Randon (poet / playwright known as Jehan Rictus, 1867 – 1933). Fauré sets the last three stanzas only, from the total nine stanzas.
