HYMN-KANTELE

HYMN-KANTELE (VIRSIKANTELE), a long, one-stringed, bowed instrument used to accompany hymn singing in cottage meetings and schools. The reed organ replaced it. The melody-editions of some hymnals included instructions for constructing a hymn-kantele and also a fingering chart inside the back cover.
