KURKI-SUONIO, ERKKI (Sep. 22, 1901, Helsinki—1985), theologian, son of musicologist Ilmari Krohn (see KROHN, ILMARI) and brother of composer Felix Krohn (see KROHN, FELIX), wrote his 1952 doctoral dissertation on Hengelliset kansansävelmämme koraaleina: sävelmien ottaminen koraalikirjaan ja niiden laatu (Our Spiritual Folksongs as Chorales: Melodies Taken into the Chorale Book and their Characteristics), a 1955 study of hymns Kolmisäikeinen lanka (A Thread of Three Strands), and two volumes of studies...
