BACHMANN, CharlotteCarolineWilhelmine (nee Stowe) Germanharpsichordist, singer and composer. Berlin, November 2, 1757; Berlin, August 19, 1817. The daughter of the chamber musician, W.H. Stowe, she married another chamber musician Karl Ludwig Bachmann in 1785. She was one of the first members of the Berlin Sing-Akademie, founded in 1791 and one of the great virtuoso harpsichord players of Berlin. She instituted annual performances of Graun’s Death of Jesus on Good Friday from 1797 to 1806…
