NURPEISSOVA, Dina Soviet dombrist and composer. Beketai-Kum, Kazakh, 1861; Alma-Ata, January 31, 1955. She was taught the dombra (national instrument of Kazakhstan, a type of lute) by her father and received a prize for her performance of her compositions on the dombra in Moscow in 1936, playing solo and with the mixed National Kazakh Kolkoz Choir.
