PAYNE, Maggi American flautist, filmmaker, lecturer, photographer and composer. Temple, TX, December 23, 1945. She studied the flute at Northwestern University (B.M.) in 1968 and at the University of Illinois (M.M.) in 1970. She received a M.F.A. (electronic music and recording media) in 1972 from Mills College, Oakland.
