Calderarpa

Calderarpa [maker's name], claviharp made by L. Caldara of Turin and Racca of Bologna ca. 1890. It was unlike older models in that the strings were not plucked, but were struck by small, cloth-covered bars, the lowest ones even by hammers. The harp shape was preserved; compass 6 octs., F1–f4 (176). Sachs, Curt. Reallexikon der Musikinstrumente. Berlin, 1913.
