Column

Column (Fr.: colonne; Ger.: Baronstange; It.: colonna), the upright post of a *frame harp, also called pillar or fore-pillar. In modern European pedal harps this is hollow to permit the pedal action to pass through it, and straight for the same reason. See also: frame harp, harp.
