Gyo

Gyo scraper of Japan, of Chin. origin, in form of a wooden tiger with notched back; it is scraped with a bamboo switch. It corresponds to the yü of China, the ō of Korea (173). Sachs, Curt. Die Musikinstrumente Indiens und Indonesiens. Berlin, 1915.
