Herald's trumpet

Herald's trumpet (Ger.: Fanfarentrompete, Heroldstrompete), 1. name given in modern times to a med. straight trumpet of the type illustrated in the 13th c. Cantigas de Santa María; 2. 20th-c. trumpet in form of a natural trumpet, either valveless or with 2 or 3 piston valves. See also: Aïda trumpet.
