Khong vong yai

Khong vong yai gong chime of Thailand, of 16 tuned gongs with central boss and turned rim, arranged in a low circular frame, with the lowest-pitched gong to the player's left, the highest to his right. The player sits in the center of the frame with the gongs around him. Their diams. vary from 12-16 cm. (4¾-6¼ in.). The gongs have a compass d1-e3 and are struck with 2 beaters (65).
