Krotalon
Krotalon pl. krotala, clappers of ancient Greece, made in various forms, chiefly of wood and in shape of boots joined together at one end. As they were used in pairs, they are generally referred to by the plural form of the word. Homer and Sappho already mentioned them (199). Wegner, Max. Das Musikleben der Griechen. Berlin, 1949.
