Moulinet

Moulinet [dim. of moulin, mill], Fr. 16th-c. term for a clapper in church towers, used during Easter week. The term is derived from the shape of its windmilllike wings fitted around an axle and struck by hammers as they turned (169). Sachs, Curt. Handbuch der Musikinstrumentenkunde. Leipzig, 1920.
