Nebel
Nebel pl. nbalim (Heb.: skin, wine bag), vertical *angular harp of the ancient Hebrews, an instr. of the Levites in biblical times, with a variable number of gut strings, possibly of Egyptian origin. Flavius Josephus (b. 37 A.c.) knew it with 12 strings; the Psalms seem to indicate 10. It is now thought to have assumed the form of the Gk. letter delta inverted: V, (84, 97).
