Págugu
Págugu [Yoruba okpa, stick + egungun, spirits of the dead], Afro-Cuban *stamping tube, sometimes terminating in a carved head. It is used at funeral rites. The págugu is a symbolic substitution of the dead and must therefore be of the same length as the deceased person. Also called akpateré, ayíguí, iguí-égun (152). Ortiz, Fernando.
