Pianista

Pianista device set in front of a conventional piano for mechanically depressing the keys. A set of horizontal levers extended from a cabinet and depressed the appropriate keys, driven by a hand crank acting on perforated cards. The player turned the crank with his left hand while the right controlled the dynamics. For a list of similar devices see: pianola. See also: player piano.
