Piccolo clarinet
Piccolo clarinet (It.: ottavino), in the 19th c. an oct. clarinet in high C existed in Italy (made by A. Tosoroni, 1850), but now the clarinet in high A♭ is the only surviving piccolo—a military instr. Cf. sestino, settimino, Sextklarinette (89 Rendall).
