Quijada
Quijada (Sp.: jawbone), Afro-Cuban scraper made of the lower jaw of a mule, horse, or donkey, with all its teeth left in. It is also a rattle, as the teeth chatter when it is shaken, and a percussion instr., as it can be hit with the fist. Negroes of coastal Peru have used it as a musical instr. since the late 18th c.
